What Is High Def ?2020-09-21T00:42:54-04:00

High Def (HD)  – 1920×1080 – refers to the size of the image which is 1920 pixels in length and 1080 pixels in height to accommodate today’s televisions.  Prior to 2007 all camcorders captured video in Standard Def (SD) – 720 x 480.  We have the technology to transfer SD to HD which allows for the viewing of the video as a larger image.  HD files will play on today’s 4K/UHD TVs.

What if I’ve already had my film transferred?2021-08-12T14:34:05-04:00

Usually we prefer using the original because it will transfer at a higher quality with our high tech equipment.  If you still have the original 8/16/35mm film we recommend that you send us both versions. Once we review them, we’ll call you to discuss your options.

Can you fix damaged/broken film/videotape?2021-08-12T13:59:54-04:00

We can repair/splice most video and film. We can also transfer moldy video tapes.  We can’t however process material that is damaged beyond repair due to poor storage.

What is the best way to digitize?2021-08-12T14:05:38-04:00

Today’s technology gives you a lot of options when it comes to where to preserve your memories captured on old technology. Discs are going away.  We recommend converting everything to High Def (HD)  – 1920×1080 – which makes the image 1920 pixels in length and 1080 pixels in height to accommodate today’s televisions.  Prior to 2007, all camcorders captured video in Standard Def (SD) – 720 x 480.  We have the technology to transfer SD to HD which allows for the viewing of the video as a larger image on your TV and computer from a flash drive or external hard drive via USB ports.  You can also upload these files to your favorite platform such YouTube.  For those preferring discs, we can still make DVD or BluRay discs.

In similar fashion, audio files can be played using the same equipment as well as in your car.  CDs are also available.

The thing to remember is that if you want to preserve and be able to view all those old videos and movies collecting dust somewhere in your house, now is the time to do it – before the old technology media deteriorates to the point where they can no longer be transferred.  Any of the above options will not only allow you to view them today but to also preserve them for the future.

Call us if you have any questions and we’ll be happy to discuss the best options for you.

Why digitize?2020-08-16T14:50:59-04:00

The average life span of your video tapes is 15-20 years. Now is the time to convert all those videos you shot in the 1980s, 1990s and 2000s. Film on reel (8/16/35mm) lasts longer depending on how they are stored. Water and humidity are its worst enemies. Slides and photos fade overtime.

Converting your old technology to digital format allows you to preserve your memories before they are lost forever. You owe it to your loved ones to preserve and pass on your history.
